Concealed Carry: Advanced Skills and Tactics - FPF Training

September 26&27, 2020

Concealed Carry: Advanced Skills and Tactics is a 2 day, 20-hour course designed to inform and instruct lawfully armed citizens in their defensive decisions and equip them with realistic skills that enable an effective and lawful approach to personal security concerns. Employing a highly dynamic combination of lecture, demonstration, and practical application, the course goes past the concentration on shooting skills that most concealed carry classes focus on and provides a combination of “hard” and “soft” skills and strategies “Beyond the Gun” that opens minds and options for armed citizens. The class consists of four hours of video “view ahead”, four hours of lecture and practical application on Saturday from 0800-1200, and six hours of intensive pistol skills. Sunday is 100% range time incorporating those lessons in a challenging and PRACTICAL live fire environment. Your mind will be educated on how to use your mouth, your feet and situationally appropriate levels of force. Cost is $425, with 800 rounds required for the class.

Specific course content and methodology relies heavily on incorporating the science of “Recognition Primed Decisions”, deriving lessons from security videos of actual events and honing the skills most needed by ordinary people that find themselves in extraordinary circumstances.
Topics Include:
-Developing the defensive mindset and decision-making process
-Tactics and techniques to support the Awareness, Avoidance, De-Escalation, Evasion paradigm
-Conflict Communications
-Pre-Incident criminal behavior, Managing Unknown Contacts (Credit to Craig Douglas)

-Stopping bleeding with pressure dressing and tourniquets
- Shooting in 3D: Pistol ballistics and human anatomy
-Shooting drills and skills derived from incidents involving armed citizens
-Decisive Movement
-Much more that you won’t see in other classes!

Requirements: 800 rounds of ball ammunition (factory is preferred), the pistol you carry, a QUALITY holster (No SERPA type or floppy nylon!) 4 magazines, eye and ear protection, weather appropriate clothing, sunscreen, bug repellent, notepad and pen…the usual stuff you need on the range. Applied PistolCraft - First Person Safety

May 16&17, 2020

Lee Weems combines two decades of experience and training as a peace officer with education from many of the most renowned names in the personal safety training industry into this learning experience. The class begins with his “Standing Your Ground” presentation on the dynamics of deadly force encounters and then moves to the range for a shooting experience that actively incorporates the four universal rules for possessing a firearm including shoot/no-shoot decision making, changing your angle to get a safer shot, divided attention drills, and priority of fire considerations.

The class will conclude with the FBI Pistol Qualification Course. Students will receive a letter of documentation.

The Civilian Defender and the After Action Project have featured reviews of Lee’s training, and he is a frequent guest co-host on Civilian Carry Radio where he has also been interviewed as a special guest.

Students will need to bring the following:

All personal safety equipment (eye/ear protection, brimmed hat, etc)
A quality firearm with a minimum 6-shot capacity
Minimum of three magazines of 10-round capacity or more; a minimum of five magazines if less than 10-round capacity. Revolver shooters will need at least five loaders.
A holster that will not collapse when the pistol is drawn and that does not have a retention device that requires the use of the trigger finger to actuate (such as the Serpa). AIWB is good to go, but no crossdraw or shoulder rigs.
Concealment garment
Personal comfort items (drinks, food, chairs, etc)
800 rounds of ammunition

***There is a $40 range fee payable to the range on the first day of class.

Immediate Action Jiu Jitsu

Real World Application of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a Weapon-Based-Environment

Contrary to popular belief, many empty hand fights and those involving weapons, end up on the ground. No amount of pontificating or self-proclaimed “expert“posturing will change this simple fact. If you ignore this reality, you may very well find yourself in a situation you cannot handle with disastrous consequences. This course is designed to give the layman a realistic and functional set of concepts, techniques, methodologies, training drills and experiences that will prepare them for a worst case “ground-fight” scenario. All techniques and concepts are high percentile applications which span a wide spectrum of confrontations. Training consists of presentation, drilling and Force-On-Force evolutions providing attendees with immediate feedback regarding the efficacy of the skills learned. The goal of this course is not to create a “ground fighter” or grappler. The objective is to provide attendees who have limited training time and resources with solid ground survival and escape fundamentals geared toward the increasingly violent weapon based environments they may live, work and/or travel within. And all techniques/concepts are from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and are combat proven over the past 80 years by thousands of practitioners, including the U.S. Army.

These methods are for everyone regardless of physical condition – young, old, male, female, athlete or not – You DO NOT have to be a professional fighter to perform at a functional level. This will be a class about physical training, but it is NOT boot camp. Participants may go at the pace that is comfortable for them, while trying to push the envelope of their own individual performance.
Requirements : Loose, comfortable but durable clothes, mouthpiece, cup, notebook, and an open mind

The course is divided into modules that address specific situations. Seminars/training can be customized to fit your needs by arranging for the appropriate modules to be covered. Among the topics covered by the modules include:
-Surviving/defending/escaping when you are on the ground underneath an attacker
-Surviving/defending/escaping when you are on the ground and your opponent is standing
-Functional methods of getting back to your feet
-Countering takedowns and remaining on your feet
-IFWA (in-fight weapon access)
-Denying your opponent’s weapon access – understanding technique, positional hierarchy AND timing
-Multiple opponents – realistically maximizing your chances
-Surviving inside the guard
-Proper usage of the guard to win/escape
-Defending against punches, elbow strikes, stomps, kicks, etc…
-Proper role of “dirty tactics”
-Essential training principles, methods, & drills
-How these concepts & techniques remain true with or without weapon involvement
-Learning to deal with the most common MMA attacks and holds
-Recognizing and defending against common submissions (guillotine, rear naked choke, triangle, arm bar, etc.)
-Structuring and balancing your training and integrating it into a busy real world lifestyle
-**NEW BLOCK OF INSTRUCTION ON OPTIMALLY ACCESSING WEAPONS ON THE GROUND**

Immediate Action Pugilism

Boxing for Self-Preservation in the Weapons Based Environment

Sometimes, in order to defend ourselves and our loved ones, the only tool we might have to rely on is our own body. Even if you have external weapons, you might not be able to access them. Your safety may come down to how well you can survive a hand-to-hand confrontation. The Immediate Action Pugilism course is designed to give the layman a realistic and functional set of concepts, techniques, methodologies, training drills and experiences that will prepare them for a worst case H2H scenario. All techniques and concepts are high percentile applications which span a wide spectrum of confrontations. Training consists of presentation, drilling and Force-On-Force evolutions providing attendees with immediate feedback regarding the efficacy of the skills learned. The goal of this course is not to create a professional boxer or MMA competitor. The objective is to provide attendees who have limited training time and resources with solid fundamentals geared toward the increasingly violent weapon based environments they may live, work and/or travel within.

All the techniques presented are based on orthodox and MMA boxing methods and are the best, most functional and high percentage moves and tactics available.

Requirements: Boxing gloves (at least 12oz or bigger unless per-authorized by the instructor), loose, comfortable but durable clothes, mouthpiece, cup, notebook, and an open mind. MMA gloves are strongly encouraged, but are not mandatory.
